Why I do this. Reason #524617
I do what I do because it allows me to meet people and have a lasting encounter with them. In turn I receive their stamp in my memories as well. I don't have to be on stage either, all I spit loud on the busses in Chicago, on the cold Saturday streets on the South ide Pgh, I mime downtown and give inaudible compliments to wide smiles and raised brows. I went thru spats of denying my gifts. Much like many of you reading this now have put down a pencil, an instrument, a tap shoe. I want people to believe there is beauty in all creativity and to be reassured that their peace always resides within. I can help them find it. If I write it down, study it, act it out...someone will be there, representing the billions who couldn't make it. I will initiate the rippling spiritual experience as I give my testimony.
Luke 6:27
I pray for Ms. Simmons from the collection agency who just
hung up on me. She called me today I politely apologized for not returning her
phone call the other day. She asked me what I was so busy doing. I thought the
question was out of line. But told her I work a phone job as well, and I got
distracted. She swung her neck, frowned at my apology and took my neglected
phone call very personally.
She said you were on a payment plan which is a privilege to
be on and now you're not. (btw last payment was Jan 15th) you will receive a
letter in the mail to pay this in FULL!"
Are you following? Good.
In my head I thought...what does that mean? Oh..it must mean
when I get this letter, I pay you
whatever I can...and you deposit my check and my balance goes down. PAID IN
FULL is just a scare technique...like a
threat. I asked her politely (wink)
"If I send in a check for less than the full amount,
would it be rejected?"
She said , "no."
So I said "Then I must still be on a payment plan then
right?"
She said "No! let me tell you, your payment plan is
OVER."
I asked her "How is my payment plan was over if she
would still accept payments from me?" After I missed her call.
Break:::If I could really speak to her....
Okay Ms. Simmons do you know how many phone calls I don't
call back! I actually remember our last phone conversation in December and I
remember you being a sister. and I remember you getting a premature attitude
with me over the phone in some inexcusable tones...I know you have to do this
work for a living but my mother raised me to swallow my pride and respect my
elders. so I picked up the phone. When all these other students ignore you for
months, and you keep missing your collection goals because of them, think about
me. The one who's actually trying to rectify this situation...augh!
I be wanting to be rude...but I know Karma...and we're
homies right now.
She had no argument for the payment plan comment. I WAS on
theoretically on a payment plan…as long as I followed thru on this plan to pay…
She was so upset. She screamed on the phone at me saying “This
is the Federal Government Collection Agency! This is an attempt to collect a
debt!!” …Dial tone…
Then my phone rang…(smile)
“Hi this is Candace on a recorded line. ahh Nice to meet you Ann.
Tell me about your desire for a college degree…”
I only wrote this because if I don't get this off my chest. I will think negatively about this whole thing. Writing is therapeutic and I'm willing to experience healing. That energy on the phone was so toxic. I'm not sure what she's going thru..I'm not sure if she's going to "alert the authorities" that I'm "off" my payment plan...but I pray she is touched by my patience with her...and that she treats others with more grace.

Hotep the Artist
I created this blog because I see my future taking an immediate upward spiral. I am a professional mime artist and spoken word artist. I've only recently seen the potential of my artform in the past year. Since then, I've been competing in poetry slams, I've been a spoken word featured artist for events, parties, and staged readings, and I've mimed for audiences large and small.
I am not your typical artist, who's good at what they do and who shows off talent for the applause and the money. I have a story to tell. I have a message to give. For those who can hear I speak. For those who can't hear, I mime. Either way, I will fulfill my destiny of uniting the consciousness of my audience, and they will leave believing in themselves and inspired to share their stories as well.
Love is the foundation of all of my work. If I'm shouting, it's because I love you so much that I want you feel what I went through to deliver that message. If I cry, it's because I know the impact that true ministry can have on an open mind. When I smile, it's an expression of redemption, because some people in this world cannot forgive themselves enough to smile everyday.
Me being on stage in any arena is my testimony to my true self. My prayers to God and my ancestors have guided me to you, this blog, and my destiny to reach the masses. Thank you for being apart of my journey!
